2010 Training Schedule
Everyone Welcome

Saturday Trail Runs at Thetis Lake Park
  • Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.
  • Meet at the Prior Lake parking lot on Highland Road - Map here.
  • Directions to Prior Lake: from downtown Victoria take Trans Canada Highway north, then the Colwood/Burnside cutoff. Take the Burnside Road exit, turn left at Watkiss Way which becomes Highland Road. Travel 1.5K north on Highland to the Prior Lake parking lot.
  • The classic Prairie Inn Harriers social run. All runners and walkers welcome - a group leader for all paces. Approximately 60 minutes on the trails of Thetis Lake and Francis King parks. Post-run refreshments supplied by the club. Breakfast follows at nearby Chequered Flag on Millstream Road.
Tuesday Night Workouts - Speed and Power Sessions
  • Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m./5:15 p.m.
  • Speed and power development program. Workouts vary to keep things interesting. Sometimes it's hills, sometimes it's flat intervals. All paces represented - everyone welcome.
  • Continuing Weekly Year 'Round.
  • Meet at Mt. Douglas Park at 5:15 p.m. from May 4 'til June 29, 2010

Thursday Morning Runs - 9:00 a.m.
  • Meet at 9 a.m. for 1 hour adventure runs.

Monday through Friday all year long
  • Meet at the downtown YMCA at 12:05 p.m.
  • The legendary lunch bunch. Join the grizzled veterans for a hard-nosed road run of about 5.5 miles.
Cycling
  • If you're training for triathlons or just enjoy cycling, the Harriers have several weekly scheduled group rides.
  • Sundays, 2:00 p.m.
    Howard Johnson Hotel, 4670 Elk Lake Drive. 90-minute road ride, Saanich Peninsula, through November, weather permitting.
  • Thursdays, 4:30 p.m.
    1251 Tattersall Drive. Outdoor road ride, 60-90 minutes, through November 1, weather permitting.
  • Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m.
    Meet at Ken Bonner's house in Oak Bay for the weekly ride Sidney and Swartz Bay. Always a great social ride with the retired guys.
Racewalking
  • The Prairie Inn Harrier Racewalkers are an enthusiastic group of recreational and competitive walkers. They train at UVIC track on Wednesday night from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. year round.
  • Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m.
    Meet at UVic's Centennial Stadium Track.
