Sandy Stewart
Sandy was the highest finishing Harrier, third overall, in the Boxing Day 10 Miler.
December 17
Garfield Saunders
Garfield was the winner in the Harriers December Running Contest that is held monthly on the Discussion Forum of our web page. Twenty contestants entered the contest and Garfield won by submitting answers to a tie-breaker question.

Mike Emerson
Mike was the only Harrier to win his age division in the Beat the Christmas Rush 5K with a time of 23:18. Mike was 75th overall out of 220 finishers.

Jim Finlayson and Wendy Davies
Jim finished 6th overall in the Canadian Championships Cross Country 12K in 39:54 in Moncton, NB and qualified for the National Team competing in the world XC Championships in Dublin, Ireland next March. Wendy was the highest finishing Harrier and third woman overall in the Merrython 8K.

Steve Bachop
Steve finished second overall to James Morrison in the 17th annual Gunner Shaw Cross Country Classic. Both James (32:08) and Steve (32:17) finished under Keith Butler's previous course record of 33:08. Steve also won the 1999 Gunner Shaw race.

Belinda Nixon
A new club member, Belinda Nixon, just arrived from Australia and ran her first race as a Harrier yesterday. The PIH Table Scraps captured a silver medal in the 5th annual Thetis Lake Relay. Belinda, along with Walter Cantwell, Sylvan Smyth and Karen Lawless took second place, 15th overall, in the highly competitive Senior Mixed Division. True to form, Belinda joined fellow Aussie Ken Smythe at the Six Mile for fluid replenishment following the race. Good on ya, mate!

Maurice Tarrant, Helena Watling, Gwyn Woodson, Marg Melvin, Mike Stone and Susan Norrington
The six captains of the Harriers' six Haney to Harrison relay teams deserve great credit for organizing such a successful club presence at this popular annual event. PIH teams placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th in their respective age categories.

Rob Reid and Patti Walsh
Rob ran an brilliant Shawnigan Half Marathon finishing 3rd overall, 1st master, of 428 finishers in 1:14:50 for a 3:33 pace per kilometre. Patti was the top female Harrier finishing bang on her estimated time of 1:50 which was a personal best by 8 minutes.

Sandy Stewart and Randy Jones
Sandy was the Top Dog at the Hare 'n Hounds club run in Francis Park and Randy was the top Harrier in the Creepy Crawl 5K.
October 15
Katrina Blomkvist and Jim Finlayson
Katrina ran a personal best of 47:53 to finish 2nd in her age category in the Richmond Flatlands 10K. Jim placed 3rd overall in the Canadian 10K Road Race Championships in London, Ontario with a time of 30:29. Sean Kaley won the race in 30:12.

Simon Cowell, Matt Fedoruk, Jack Miller and Steven Shelford
Simon, Matt, Jack and Steven captured the overall team title for the Prairie Inn Harriers at the 22nd annual Royal Victoria Marathon. Matt, Simon and Steven all ran personal bests of 2:43, 2:45 and 2:59:66 respectively.

Sylvan Smyth
Sylvan did a masterful job of coordinating the finish line for the Run for the Cure, The Royal Victoria Marathon, Half Marathon and the 8K. All in all, he handled over 12,000 runners over an 8 day period. Wow!

Dr. Bob Janicki
Dr. Bob was one of the strongest runners on the Juan de Fuca Trail 2 hour club run. He was with the lead group of "Geezer" Scriven and Dr. Arthur.

Sandi Begg
Sandi made her big screen debut in "Drifters - The Water Wars" to a full house of family, friends and Harriers at the Fifth Street Bar and Grill. Go Team Ab$oloot!

Dean Baldwin and Karen Lawless
Dean and Karen were the top Harriers male and female in the Landsend Half Marathon. Dean was 3rd overall in 1:14:04 and Karen was 3rd female overall, 1st master, in her first half marathon in 1:32:34.

Aaron Holmgren
Aaron ran a very impressive Songhees 5K finishing 4th overall behind two Kenyans and Steve Osaduik. His time of 16:19 anchored the Harriers to first place in the team competition in his first race in our red singlet.

Steven Shelford
The Typical Student ran a personal best at the Sound and Silence 10K finishing 6th in his age category, 16th overall of 188 finishers with a time of 38:29.
August 20
Dean Baldwin and Alana O'Connell
Dean placed 4th overall in 34:13 at the Sound and Silence 10K on Lochside Trail. The race was won by Simon Whitfield in 31:41. Alana was the top female Harrier finishing 2nd in her age division in 46:24.

Hillerie Smith and Mike Ellis
Following the successful Corn Roast Club Run, both Hillerie (VicTrack) and Mike (TWC) rejoined the club intending to run future races, team events and club runs with the Harriers. Both are on Harriers H2H and Thetis Relay teams.

Dean Baldwin and Lisa Cantwell
Dean and Lisa were the top male and female Prairie Inn finishers at the Delta Half Marathon. Dean was 5th overall and 1st in his age division and Lisa placed 26th in her age division.

Paul Petersen
Paul was the top Harrier to finish the Sri Chinmoy Triathlon. He was 56th under 50 and 266th overall in 2 hours 30 minutes.

Sandy Stewart
Sandy ran personal bests of 9:55 for 3,000 metres (a 13 second improvement) and 4:46 for 1,500 metres (a one second improvement) over the same distances which he raced two weeks ago.

Exaggerator
Chris Kelsall ran 2 excellent races in the Summer Track Series recording 61 seconds for 400 metres (6th O.A.) and 4:55 for 1,500 metres (8th O.A.).

Walter was the top male Harrier and Katrina was the top female Harrier at the Great Sooke 12.3K Foot Race this Sunday.

For winning the inaugural Harriers World Championship Fluff Bowling Tournament and collecting the coveted 40 year old trophy.

Steven was the only Harrier to race both the Twilight Shuffle on Thursday night then the Sidney Days 5K on Sunday morning. Steven was second Harrier home in both events.

Alex finished third overall and top Harrier in the Sidney Days 5K, only six seconds behind winner Aaron Holmgren.

Jim Finlayson
For placing second overall to Kenyan Julius Gwako in the ScotiaBank Half Marathon in Vancouver with an stunning time of 1:05:43. Jim's time is the fastest run by a Canadian this year. Bruce Deacon won the First Half Half Marathon in 1:07:47 in February.

Christopher Kelsall
The Exaggerator was top Harrier and ran his first race ever with a pace of under 6 minutes per mile by posting a 23:50 at the Twilight Shuffle finishing 20th overall of 319 finishers.

Chad De Pol
Chad won the Do It For Dad 10K at Beaver Lake in 34:17 for the second consecutive year.

Sandy Stewart and Sandy Mullen
Sandy and Sandy were the top Harriers in BOTH the Firefighters 10.2K and the Arbutus 8K. Sandy Stewart was 4th overall in both races and Sandy Mullen was 2nd overall in Arbutus and 4th in the Firefighters 10.2K.

Randy Jones
Randy was the the only Harrier to do the double on the weekend, running well in both the Arbutus 8K on Saturday and the Do It For Dad 10K on Sunday.

In her first ever tri, Sandi won the Novice Division in the Panorama Triathlon.

Ken Bonner
Another great marathon for marathon man Ken Bonner. He ran 3:31:54 (chip), 3:32:04 (gun) to finish 2nd in his age group at the Capital City Marathon in Olympia, Washington.

Alex Coffin
Alex visited Ottawa for the National Capital Marathon weekend and had a good race in the 10K with a 33:54.

Rob Reid
Rob was the top master in the Vancouver Half Marathon, 8th overall in 1:16:09.

Paddy McCluskey
Paddy ran 2:29 to finish 6th overall in the Vancouver Marathon. He just missed being top Canadian and winning a trip to Japan!

Dan had one of his best races of the year, winning the M55 age group at the first Sooke River 10K.

Carlos Castillo
Carlos won the 50-mile race at the Harriers Elk/Beaver Ultras for the second year in a row. He and Mike Suminski had a great race, never more than four minutes apart throughout!

Jim ran a good race in tough conditions at the Times-Colonist 10K, running 31:44 through the wind.

These three ran the 105th Boston Marathon on Monday. Sandy ran 3:45, Rob 2:51 and Mika 2:48.

Sandy Stewart
Sandy ran another PR, this time 36:48 for 10K and was the top finisher of 33 Harriers in the Port Alberni Paper Chase 10K.

Phil Cornforth
Phil lowered his best 10K time of 2001 from 44:30 at Mill Bay to 41:50 at Port Alberni. He's finished in the top-10 in his age group in every series races, but has gradually improved from 9th early in the series to third in the past two races.

Logan Wakefield
14-year-old Logan won the M0115 age group at the Merville 15K, his first ever age group win, in his longest ever race.

Katrina Blomkvist
Katrina won a gold medal in the F1619 age group and had her highest ever points score in the series in her first ever 15K. Her 10K split was also a 10K PR by over 2 minutes!

A superb gold medal in the M0115 division at the Pioneer 8K for 12-year-old Graeme Benn. A star of the Harriers' future and present!

Pioneer 8K Volunteers
Thanks to everyone who helped organize a successful Pioneer 8K on the weekend. Nothing by positive comments have been received, thanks to the hard work of dozens of Harriers and friends.

Sandy had a gigantic personal best performance at the UVic 5K. His time of 17:12 was a PR by 50 seconds and his score of 764 beat his previous best by 24 points!

Matt Fedoruk & Colleen Grady
Matt was 5th OA and 2nd in his age division running 1:18:46 at the Comox Half Marathon. Colleen (Dr. Bodypierce) was 2nd female OA and 1st in her age class in 1:29:10. It was the fourth consecutive Series race where she has won Bob's Bonus Buds.

Christine Thate
Christine organized an excellent club run from the Fifth Street Grill on Sunday. About 35 runners took to the Cedar Hill Golf Course trail and 33 stayed for brunch in the pub. All 33 received a draw prize!

Chad ran an awesome race to finish only 5 seconds behind Steve Osaduik and Colleen Grady was the top-finishing female Harrier for the third time this year in the Hatley Castle 8K.

Rob Reid, Matt Fedoruk & Jack Miller
Rob for finishing 8th OA in 1:14:32, top master for the second consecutive week, Matt for finishing 3rd in his age division and 20th OA in 1:18:04 and Jack for winning the M50 division, 34th OA in 1:19:30 at the Vancouver First Half Half Marathon. There were 1,993 finishers.

Rob Reid & Katrina Blomkvist
Rob for his highest Series finish this year (4th OA in 41:03) in the Cedar 12K. He was top master. Katrina won her first medal ever by finishing third in her age class. There were 366 finishers at Cedar.

Katrina Blomkvist & Niki Upton
Batgirl and Triki Niki sailed through the hilly 9.5 mile Goldstream Club Run (their longest training distance) with no trouble and a smile upon finishing.

Mike Stone & Sandy Stewart
Mike (35:36) and Sandy (37:21) ran huge P.R.'s at the Mill Bay 10K, race number 2 in the New Balance Island Race Series.

Paddy McCluskey & Sandi Begg
These two were the first in 2001 to collect Bob's Bonus Buds for being the top male and female Harriers at the Bazan Bay 8K.

Paddy and Ulla were named the Gunner Shaw Most Valuable Runners for 2000 at the Harriers Annual Awards Ceremony.
