Josephine was named the Harriers Susan Reid Most consistent runner for 1999, then won the Harriers Boxing Day 10-mile Handicap and followed up by winning her age group in the Harriers 8K and being named the winner of the Greg Marchand award for inspiration.

Qristina Bachand
Qristina is a nine year old new member. She ran 26:57 in the Beat the Christmas Rush 5K to place second in her age division.

Wendy Davies and Rob Grant
Wendy won the Beat the Christmas Rush 5K despite starting 1 minute late and Rob ran 3:01:14 at the Honolulu Marathon. He was 112th overall out of 26,724 finishers! Dr. Spin entered under a PenPlod alias and finished with a disappointing 3:28.

Chad had the third fastest leg overall in the Thetis Lake Relay behind only Rob Harmsworth and Mike Vine.

Debbie's stellar performance at Haney-Harrison in winning Stage 6 won the master women's division and beat all other 8 PIH runners. This was her first race in 5 years.

Rod and Marilyn McCrimmon
Rod was third male Harrier finisher and Marilyn was first female Harrier finisher at the Shawnigan Half Marathon.

Dr. Spin
The Spin Doctor ran an excellent Chicago Marathon himself and was treated to a world record performance of 2:05:42 by Khalid Khannouchi. Rumour has it that pacing by the Harriers' ultra-shuffler was crucial to Khannouchi's success. He was also completing marathons on back-to-back weekends first running Royal Victoria in 3:16.

For his third place finishes in the Royal Victoria 8K (M40), Turkey Trot 5K (OA) and Lung Awareness 5K (OA) all within an 8 day span.

Jack ran his 50th marathon at Royal Victoria, wearing race number 50 and winning the M50 division in 2:46:51.

Martin, Gunner Shaw's nephew, has coached his 17-year-old daughter Erinne to a 6th place overall finish in the 3-day Victoria International Cycling Festival. Erinne contended with cycling superstars Alison Sydor and Leslie Tomlinson.

At the Alberni 10K Mike picked up his first age group victory and moved into 3rd position overall in his category. Karen was the second master home and solidified her 2nd position behind only Ulla Marquette in the series.

Both new members, Tim and Hillerie had great races in the North Shore Second Half 5K in Vancouver.

Sabrina won the masters division in the 3.5K Run for Hunger (13th OA, 4th female, 70 runners total).

Rob Grant
After many years of running and many years of running ultras Rob has won his first ever race outright! Appropriately, he did it in an ultra, the Sri Chinmoy 50-miler at Burnaby Lake. Most amazingly, he did it only a month after breaking his big toe! Awesome!

Dan won his age group for the first time this year in the UVic 5K, narrowly edging his Nanaimo rival Delbert Horrocks. Amazingly, the top five finishers in the M5054 division all finished between 18:03 and 18:30.

Alex was first overall and Colleen placed 2nd amongst women in the Comox Valley Half Marathon.

Gutsy Alex set the pace at the Mill Bay 10K from the start 'til 8K, then hung on gamely to finish a strong 2nd, only 4 seconds behind teammate Paddy McCluskey.

Greg Marchand
The biggest cheer at the Harriers 8K awards presentations was for Greg Marchand. Greg finished the 8K in 37:31, 274th overall out of 577 runners, symbolizing his brave recovery from a life-threatening episode in the same race last year.

Kathy Davidson and Sylvan Smyth
A guest appearance on the Harrier Runner-O-The-Week list for TWC's Kathy Davidson, who ran a great race in the Harriers 8K, 2nd woman overall and 1st in her age group. Sylvan ran 26:46, a PR by 1:29, scored 811 points, a PR by 45 points, and finished 11th overall, his best ever Island Series result.
